Gerald McRaney

He did it! I sent Mackie the following message:

“Congratulations! Kudos! Bravo! Well done! Felicitations! And richly deserved, my talented friend!”

It’s only the first one; there’ll be more to come!

(I got so excited, I forgot to mention that what he did was win an Emmy!)

I watched a few episodes of that show & didn’t really care for it much. Although I recognized (Rick) Gerald McRaney as the brightest Star in that sky.

Well, after reading this I just had to Google: “Gerald McRaney, Emmy Win” (you should try it: it looks NICE!), and enjoyed the photo that accompanied the article as much as I did the fact that he won.

Looking forward to more J.P. posts on this subject! Happy news is hard to come by these days…

    Hello JP,

terrific….congratulations to Gerald McRaney!!!! I’ve kept my fingers crossed and I’m glad he made it. Unfortunately I don’t know his current serial but I saw him for example in “House of Cards” and to me he already deserved it earlier 🙂

    Best wishes

I have not seen that show but will have to check it out. I saw him in an episode of CHIPs a few months ago… yeah, he was a bad guy.

I have been re-watching Magnum P.I. episodes on Starz now and then… wish Simon and Simon would pop up somewhere to watch. Maybe on Hulu? Used to love watching that too.

My name is Ken. My birthday is Friday the 15th. I celebrate the 12 days of Kenmas leading to my birthday. One of the blessings I count this year is that Simon & Simon season 1 episode 1 was rebroadcast on COZI at 1am central. It is, at my age (almost 47 but not yet), the greatest gift. Gerald McRaney, Jeannie Wilson, Mary Carver, and Eddie Barth are all national treasurers. And Joby Baker with a mustache. The cute blonde guy aint bad either, but let’s face it, he’s jut another pretty face. AND Gerald McRaney won an Emmy. Lot’s of ‘ands’ but that is how celebrations go.

Congratulations Gerald McRaney well done and so richly deserved!

I had been wondering what happened about the nomination thanks for updating us Jameson. It was wonderful news to come online to. 🙂

I saw the show only to see Gerald McRaney and he was brilliant! I have heard it is difficult for an actor to play scenes alone (without interacting with another actor). But the scenes where he talks to his late wife, telling her he has to move on, were so intense, so touching that I was actually holding my breath and I got tears in my eyes. And if he plays with young actors today I often get the feeling he even pushes them to be better, that he gives them so much support and comforts them with all his experience that they are able to grow and learn from him. He does not just play or act his roles, he lives his roles with every fiber of his body. Gerald McRaney is one of the best actors inside the business and for my taste he should have a whole cabinet full of awards.
Best wishes and God bless you

Mackie’s win is better than some compensatory career achievement award, though he deserves one of those, too. I’m pleased he won.

Speaking of the S&S cast–I adore them all–JP, I was wondering if you would someday soon share your reminiscences on working with the late Mary Carver, your TV mom. She died back in late 2013 and I was curious as to your working relationship with her.

You probably saw it already (or talked to him post win), but if not there are Youtube videos of Mackie being interviewed on the red carpet and he mentioned the word’s of encouragement he received from you and other old friends after the nomination. Clearly he was touched by that. He sure does seem like a really nice guy and good friend to have.

And he sure doesn’t seem to have let any of the Hollywood BS and self love, etc infect or change him from being a regular guy who one would enjoy going hunting with and drinking beers after returning from a Safari.
